If you haven’t seen Frozen yet, you must get to the theater. It is an excellent movie, and the soundtrack is fantastic. It is one of the best Disney animated movies in years.
The original tunes in Frozen are as fun and infectious as the earlier Disney classics. Here are our favorites in order. How would you rank the list?
Frozen Heart
The movie’s opening number features a melody of harmonizing ice harvesters singing about how much they love chopping up ice. The song is a giant warning about the dangers of frozen things. It foreshadows Elsa, princess of Arendelle, ability to create ice and snow and the rift that develops with her estranged sister Anna.
Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People
‘Reindeers Are Better Than People’ is sung by Kristoff to his reindeer, Sven. Half of which involve his “reindeer voice.”
Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
This song is about how lonely Anna is and how she wants to spend time and play with her sister, Elsa. It shows her at different ages throughout the song. Just before the last verse of the song, her parents went off on a ship, and you can see it capsize; their parents died, so the last verse is sadder.
Love Is an Open Door
“Love is an Open Door” is a romantic duet and Hans’ villainous song for Frozen, sung by major characters Anna and Hans. Unlike most traditional Disney romantic love songs, this one has a strong percussion beat and is a bit goofier than most traditional Disney love songs.
Fixer Upper
Say whatever you want, but the trolls’ number is one of the best songs in the movie: the de facto “Be Our Guest” and the jubilant group number that will win over the adults in the crowd and the kids. The melody harkens back to the great Disney classics or the fabulously random gospel break at the end. I can’t stop listening to this song.
For the First Time in Forever
“For the First Time in Forever” is a song that was sung by Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel). The song expresses Anna’s delight at being able to see people again due to her sister’s coronation. Meanwhile, it discloses Elsa’s fear of accidentally revealing her powers to everyone.
In Summer
Olaf, who burst onto the scene in a magical moment in “Frozen,” counts warm hugs among his passions. Olaf is known for his innocent view of the world, comic personality, and ability to disassemble himself at good and not—so—good times. His catchy debut single will surely heat the coldest of winter days.
Let It Go
In this clip from Disney’s “Frozen,” Elsa, whose secret powers have just been revealed, flees Arendelle and unleashes her magic, creating a breathtaking ice palace. Performed by the voice of Elsa and Idina Menzel, “Let It Go” is an original song by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Tony Award® winner Robert Lopez.
