I love Disney movies, and Moana is one of my all-time favorites. The story, characters, and animation are all great, but what really makes it special for me is the music.
The songs in Moana are catchy, meaningful, and stick with you long after the movie ends. I find myself humming them all the time.

1) ‘How Far I’ll Go’ by Auli’i Cravalho
‘How Far I’ll Go’ is my absolute favorite song from Moana. Auli’i Cravalho’s voice is incredible, and she really brings the character to life.
The song captures Moana’s adventurous spirit perfectly. I love how it expresses her desire to explore beyond her island home.
When I listen to it, I feel inspired to chase my own dreams. The powerful lyrics about following your heart always give me chills.
The melody is catchy and uplifting. I often find myself humming it throughout the day.
I think the official music video is beautifully done too. It showcases scenes from the movie that match the song’s emotions.
There’s also a fun sing-along version that I enjoy. It’s great for when I want to belt out the lyrics myself.
‘How Far I’ll Go’ has become a modern Disney classic in my opinion. It’s a song that I never get tired of hearing.
2) ‘You’re Welcome’ by Dwayne Johnson
I can’t help but smile when I hear this catchy tune. Dwayne Johnson’s charismatic performance as Maui really shines in ‘You’re Welcome’. His deep, booming voice brings the demigod’s larger-than-life personality to life.
The song’s upbeat rhythm and clever lyrics make it impossible not to sing along. I find myself humming it for days after watching the movie. It’s a perfect showcase of Maui’s ego and accomplishments.
What I love most is how the song introduces us to Maui’s character. It’s funny, charming, and a bit boastful – just like him. The animated sequence that goes with it is amazing too. It shows off all of Maui’s legendary deeds in a fun, visually stunning way.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s songwriting skills really shine here. The lyrics are witty and packed with references to Polynesian mythology. I always discover something new when I listen to it.
In my opinion, ‘You’re Welcome’ is one of the most memorable songs from Moana. It’s a fantastic blend of storytelling, humor, and catchy music that I never get tired of hearing.
3) ‘Shiny’ by Jemaine Clement
‘Shiny’ is one of my favorite songs from Moana. Jemaine Clement’s performance as the giant crab Tamatoa is unforgettable. His voice brings so much personality to this catchy villain song.
I love how the lyrics are clever and funny. Tamatoa brags about how shiny and fabulous he is. The wordplay and rhymes always make me smile.
The music has a great beat that gets stuck in my head. It’s hard not to dance along when I hear it. The glam rock style fits Tamatoa’s vain character perfectly.
My favorite part is when Clement hits those low notes. His voice sounds so rich and smooth. I’m always impressed by his range as a singer.
This song adds a fun break in the movie’s action. It’s silly but also shows off Tamatoa as a real threat. I think it’s one of the most entertaining villain songs in any Disney movie.
4) ‘We Know the Way’ by Opetaia Foa’i and Lin-Manuel Miranda
I absolutely love ‘We Know the Way’ from Moana. It’s such a powerful and uplifting song that always gets me excited.
The combination of Opetaia Foa’i and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s talents really shines through in this track. I find myself humming the catchy melody all the time.
What I really enjoy is how the song mixes English and Tokelauan lyrics. It gives the music an authentic Polynesian feel that fits perfectly with Moana’s journey.
The lyrics about wayfinding and ocean navigation are so inspiring. They make me want to go on an adventure across the sea.
I think the finale version is especially moving. It ties together Moana’s whole story and her people’s seafaring heritage.
Whenever I listen to ‘We Know the Way’, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride and connection to my own ancestors. It’s definitely one of my top picks from the Moana soundtrack.
5) ‘Where You Are’ by Christopher Jackson, Rachel House, Nicole Scherzinger, Auli’i Cravalho & Louise Bush
I love how this song captures the heart of Moana’s island community. It’s a feel-good tune that makes me want to dance along.
The lyrics paint a picture of life on Motunui. I can almost see the villagers going about their daily tasks as I listen. It’s cool how the song introduces key characters like Moana’s parents and grandmother.
What really stands out to me is how the song shows Moana’s inner conflict. She loves her home but feels drawn to the ocean. I think a lot of people can relate to that push and pull between duty and dreams.
The voices blend so well together. I’m especially impressed by Auli’i Cravalho’s performance as young Moana. Her part towards the end gives me chills every time.
This song is catchy and meaningful. It’s no wonder it’s become a fan favorite from the Moana soundtrack.
6) ‘Logo Te Pate’ by Olivia Foa’i, Opetaia Foa’i & Talaga Steve Sale
I love how ‘Logo Te Pate’ brings a burst of energy to the Moana soundtrack. This catchy tune makes me want to dance every time I hear it.
What’s cool is that this song existed before Moana. It was originally performed by Te Vaka, Opetaia Foa’i’s group. They create music with South Pacific influences, which adds a special touch to the movie’s sound.
The lyrics are super fun, even if I don’t understand them all. They tell us to listen to the log drum and stand up. It’s like an invitation to join in the celebration.
I find myself tapping my foot to the beat whenever this song comes on. It’s part of the Moana Deluxe Edition soundtrack, which is a treat for fans who want more music from the film.
‘Logo Te Pate’ might not be as famous as some other Moana songs, but it’s definitely one of my favorites. It brings a slice of Polynesian culture right into my playlist.
7) ‘I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors)’ by Rachel House & Auli’i Cravalho
I love this powerful song from Moana. It’s when Moana really finds herself and embraces her identity. Rachel House and Auli’i Cravalho’s voices blend beautifully.
The lyrics are so inspiring. They talk about Moana’s love for her island and the sea. It reminds me of how important it is to know who you are and where you come from.
I get chills every time I hear the line “I am the daughter of the village chief”. It’s such a strong statement of Moana’s heritage and responsibility.
The song’s melody is haunting and beautiful. It builds up to this amazing climax that always gives me goosebumps.
I think this song is a key moment in the movie. It’s when Moana fully accepts her role and decides to save her people. It always makes me feel like I can take on any challenge.

I love this beautiful song from Moana. It’s sung in Tokelauan, which gives it a really unique sound. The voices of Vai Mahina, Sulata Foai-Amiatu, and Matthew Ineleo blend together perfectly.
The lyrics talk about wonder and innocence. I think it captures Moana’s spirit as she starts her journey. Even though I don’t understand the words, the emotion comes through clearly.
This song plays during an important scene early in the movie. It helps set the tone for Moana’s whole adventure. The haunting melody always gives me chills.
I appreciate how Disney included authentic Polynesian languages and voices in the soundtrack. ‘An Innocent Warrior’ feels like a genuine cultural expression, not just a typical Disney song.
Whenever I listen to this track, I’m transported to the islands of the South Pacific. The vocals and rhythms paint such a vivid picture in my mind. It’s definitely one of my favorite parts of the Moana soundtrack.
10) ‘Prologue’ by Olivia Foa’i, Opetaia Foa’i & Dave Metzger
I love how ‘Prologue’ sets the mood for the whole Moana movie.
It’s the first song on the Moana soundtrack and it really draws me in.
The voices of Olivia Foa’i and Opetaia Foa’i blend so nicely.
They sing in a language I don’t understand, but it sounds beautiful and mysterious.
Dave Metzger’s orchestration adds depth to the song.
The mix of traditional Polynesian sounds with a modern twist is really cool.
I think this song does a great job of introducing the South Pacific setting.
It makes me feel like I’m right there on a tropical island.
Even though it’s short, ‘Prologue’ sticks in my head.
It’s a perfect start to the musical journey of Moana.
